B. S. Ricks Memorial Library

We are so glad you found us. We may be on the National Register of Historic Places, but our philosophy is completely modern!

This year so far, close to 35,000 of you have visited us. Our computers (complete with Microsoft Office and Internet access) have been used over 10,000 times, our free wireless internet has been used well over 1,000 times and our items have circulated close to 21,000 times.

On average, we receive 60 new patrons per month. This is pretty impressive considering our public library building has been serving Yazoo County since 1902 and the total population of Yazoo County is  just under 28,000.

So far this year, our meeting rooms have been used 87 times by 1,706 people and we have answered over 3,500 reference questions. Did I mention that our reference librarian, local historian and author John Ellzey, was nominated for the American Library Association’s librarian of the year award?

Still not convinced how truly awesome we are? Read the American Library Association’s I Love Libraries webpage or better yet, come visit us! We’ll be happy to give you a tour of the oldest library in Mississippi, assist you with your genealogy project, show you how to download an e-book, help you on the computer, answer in depth reference questions, recommend a good book, let you use one of our meeting rooms, show you a comfy spot to use our free wireless internet, and the list goes on!
